“TAG IT” IN HOLLYWOOD
Shopping + Entertainment Destination Hollywood & Highland Center Employs Microsoft QR Codes in New Innovative Ad Campaign

(Hollywood, CA) – Initially used for tracking parts in vehicle manufacturing, Quick Response (QR) Codes are creating quite the buzz in Hollywood. Hollywood & Highland Center will be one of the first shopping and entertainment centers to use Microsoft Tags in their new branding campaign. QR Codes or Tags are becoming more popular commercially to reach consumers via Smartphones (i.e., iPhone, Blackberry, Android and others with advanced web and camera technologies).

QR Tags will be prominently displayed in all of the Hollywood & Highland Center print advertising materials and will offer users the opportunity to snap the tag with their Smartphones.

The Tag leads Smartphone users to the micro site, where they will have access to Hollywood & Highland Center event schedules and news. Another enticement to snap the Tag is an enter-to-win contest for a $1,000 shopping spree at Hollywood & Highland Center. The last day to enter the contest is September 10, 2010. The application to read the Tag can be downloaded for free onto any Smartphone at http://gettag.mobi/.

In addition, The QR Codes connect smartphone users to a special blog showing photos of real people captured on the streets of Hollywood by The Cobra Snake (Mark Hunter), described as the definitive photographer of hipster culture worldwide.   The photos can also be viewed via www.hollywoodandhighland.com where visitors are invited to “Show how they Live Large in Hollywood” by submitting their own photos for consideration to be posted on the blog.

According to Microsoft, the Microsoft Tag connects the real world to information, entertainment and interactive experiences on mobile phones. These bar codes can be displayed anywhere including ads, posters, product packages, flyers, websites, billboards, clothing and so much more. When users scan the Tag using the free Tag Reader application, it will automatically open a webpage, display a message or dial a phone number.
